Before Your Lesson!

A lot of customers ask if there is anything they can do to make things a bit easier in the lesson.

Although almost anyone can learn to surf, there are a few things that you could do to help if you really want!

The main muscle groups used in Surfing are invoved in the paddling, pop-ups (getting from laying on your tummy to your feet), wading through the surf and carrying your board. Good core stability is therefore a great advantage, as is flexibility, stamina and to some degree, upper body strength. But don't worry, if you can pick yourself up off the lounge floor you already have the skills you need!

Yoga, Pilates and Swimming are very popular activities for surfers, and are ideal for developing the muscle groups and flexibility. The key thing is that we have taught all ages, shapes and sizes. It may make it a bit easier to learn if you are supple and fit, but if you aren't, don't worry, this is supposed to be fun!
